Advocacy

Contributing to my local community is important to me. For four years I co-led the urgent response team for Washtenaw Interfaith Coalition for Immigrant Rights (WICIR). WICIR's mission is to provide a culturally sensitive and supportive urgent response to undocumented people and their families. Through our 24/7 helpline we offer bilingual assistance for those who are in urgent need of lawyer referrals, court accompaniment, food/financial assistance, interpretation/translation services, and- most heartbreaking- community support as they face deportation and separation from their families.

In November 2019, WICIR was honored as "Peace & Justice Network Organization of the Year" by the Interfaith Council of Peace and Justice.
